Pahlish The Life Aquatic - My Picks

 purchased by me

April is here at last!  I've been looking forward to this month since the end of last year.  Know why?  Polish Con NYC!  It's still over four weeks away, but I'm counting the days.  24.  Of everything I'm excited about, meeting Pahlish maker Shannon is way up the list.  Pahlish is my absolute favorite indie.  When Shannon put out a collection of foils with Bowie song could I not?  I wound up with three from The Life Aquatic collection.

Life On Mars is a coppery orange foil with gold flakes.

Glowy and gorgeous!  I wore it for about a week last month and never got tired of it.  It's got a ton of personality.  Wearing it that long, I got to see it in all kinds of lighting.  When the flakes mellow out in lower light, the glow turns into a smolder.  It's beautiful and I can absolutely see myself wearing it again, especially in the fall...yet it didn't feel out of place in March.  The formula is good too, the best of the three I tried.  This is two coats.

I can't resist mattifying a foil, of course.  The glow gets softened, but never goes away.

Rebel Rebel is a yellow-green foil with gold flakes.

Oh my.  There aren't words for how much I love this!  I use the term "uglypretty" sometimes, but this is "uglystunning".  Yellow-greens aren't for everyone, but if you like them, you NEED Rebel Rebel.  The name is an added bonus, since "Reboo Reboo" was my favorite song when I was a toddler.  The formula is thicker than Life On Mars.  This is two coats, but one might have been enough on shorter nails.  I'd still do two, for depth.

I lucked into some really good lighting while I was taking these photos and I managed to catch some of the intense sparkle.

...and you know what's next...

Space Oddity is a blue-violet foil with silver flakes.

Is this blue or purple?  It's right on that line.  Definitely looked purple in the bottle, but then blue when I was applying it...and then purple again sometimes...until it was blue?  Either way, it's pretty and probably the glowiest of the three.  It's on the sheer side, with a thinner formula than either of the other two.  Two coats was still plenty because it's so full of flakes.

Let's see that glow a little better...

It's just as pretty when it's matte...

Bottom line:  Big yes to all three, with the biggest, yes-est yes to Rebel Rebel.

Rebel Rebel is out of stock on Pahlish's website right now, but the whole collection will be restocked soon.  Space Oddity and Life On Mars are both in stock though.

Will you be going to Polish Con NYC on the 29th?  Look for me if you are, and say hi!
